Summer Mindfulness Tips for Parents

Dear Parents, welcome to summer! So, how do you feel?   Wishing you felt a little more of your kids’ joy and freedom, and a little less stress about how it’s all going to work?   We understand, having been there ourselves.

The Peace of Mind Program teaches students how to manage big emotions – like anxiety, anger, sadness, and excitement – by using mindful breathing techniques.  These techniques help us notice what we are feeling and to put a little space between our reaction to a situation and our response.  Ms. Ryden has made a series of short videos to help kids practice mindfulness outside of school.

The good news is, parents are enjoying these videos too!

We invite you to try one out on your own.  You might also like to watch and practice together with your kids.  So….

If you are feeling the need for a bit more inner peace and calm, try clicking here for a short video of Take Five Breathing. You can do this anywhere –at your desk, in the kitchen, in line at the store, or before dealing with any challenging situation.

If you find yourself feeling that you want more connection with one of your children, your spouse or partner, or perhaps a co-worker, try clicking here for a short video to lead you through a practice called Heartfulness.

Let us know how it goes for you by leaving a comment below, and stay tuned for more. In the meantime,  please visit our parents’ page at:

Wishing you a happy, healthy and peaceful summer!
