About
Our Vision
Every child will be able to develop the skills to face challenges in their own lives and the challenges facing our world with kindness, courage and compassion.
Our Mission
Our mission is to educate students about mindfulness, brain science, conflict resolution and social justice to help them develop skills to enhance their own well-being and become peacemakers.
We create, develop and share The Peace of Mind Program, an innovative and relevant social and emotional learning curriculum that helps students notice and manage challenging emotions, build healthy relationships, solve conflicts peacefully, and stand up for what they believe in.
We partner with educators who deliver the Program to students in elementary and middle schools in the Washington D.C. area and beyond, nurturing a global movement of peace teachers.
Our Values
By educators for educators. We have deep respect for educators and their desire to meet the social, emotional and academic needs of their students. Our work is firmly rooted in the classroom, meeting the needs of real students and real educators.
Mindfulness for self and others: We teach mindfulness both for students’ inner well-being and to help students become peacemakers.
Open access: We keep barriers low so that our resources are available to all who need them.
Compassionate curiosity: Mindfulness helps us find the courage and compassion to be curious about our own biases and to make the changes in our own lives that move us toward a more just, anti-racist and peaceful world.
Collaboration: We know this is but a small part of the work that is needed to transform our society. We are honored to be working and learning with others in this field.
The Peace of Mind Program is rooted in Washington D.C. Word of mouth has carried the Peace of Mind Program around the globe. Each pin marks a city where educators are using the Peace of Mind Curriculum. If you don’t see your pin here, please let us know!
